West End Development

Most West End development is very recent. For many years residential offerings in the small neighborhood consisted of older luxury condominiums and apartment buildings mixed with blocks of office buildings, hotels and restaurants. During the residential construction boom of the late 1990’s to early 2000’s, the 22 West modern, luxury condominium project rose across the street from the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Residences. This marked the start of a major neighborhood transformation largely attributable to one developer; EastBanc. Many office tenants vacated West End buildings to in favor of new office development downtown. As mixed-use infill projects took their place, planning began for the West End Projects. Recently completed WestLight and 2501 M are adding super-luxe condominiums to the neighborhood and the world-renowned Nobu restaurant opened in September of 2017. Today West End’s always elegant persona enjoys a much higher profile and its real estate a much bigger price tag.
