The Bower Overview

The Bower will include 138 luxury condominiums, two levels of underground parking, a penthouse lounge and approximately 13,ooo square feet of ground floor retail. Floor plans will range from studios to penthouse units with terraces.
In addition to The Bower on the northern portion of Parcel O-1, Forest City Washington is building a  double tower, 190-unit rental apartment building with approximately 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail at the southern portion of site. Water Street is being extended eastward to connect with 5th Street, which is being rebuilt. The Arris apartments, a 327 unit rental property on Parcel N is a mixed-use project that includes retail tenants Chloe restaurant, Philz Coffee, The Shilling Canning Company restaurant, Juice Laundry and Conte Bikes, among others.
The Yards is a redevelopment of the former Washington Navy Yard. When completed, developers will have constructed approximately 25 new buildings offering 3,400 residential units, 1.8 million square feet of office space, 400,000 square feet of dining and retail and a waterfront park across 48-acres.

The Bower Design

The Bower is a brick and glass, contemporary building. Design elements give a nod to the historic Yards neighborhood with materials, colors and textures that integrate modernity with manufacturing elements for an industrial chic aesthetic. The lobby includes a floor-to-ceiling glass panel combined with an illuminated woodland-scene, creating a simulated window into nature spanning the length of the entrance. The Bower’s penthouse lounge will be an open loft accented with expansive windows and a reflective screen on adjoining walls. A grand stone-clad fireplace, textured golden ceiling, wood paneled floors, and neutral finishes allow for industrial comforts to continue throughout.  Unit finishes include 9 to 10 foot ceilings and window walls, Bosch appliances, wide plank hardwood floors and Italian cabinetry.
Features include approx. 9′ ceilings, wide-plank hardwood floors, Mecho shades, private balconies per plan, Bosch electric appliances, Italian cabinetry, soft-close drawers, under-cabinet lighting and floor-to-ceiling glass. Building amenities include a rooftop residents’ lounge with wet bar & wine storage, a rooftop residents’ terrace, a fitness studio and 24/7 concierge.
